Oliver Shortman’s throwback track, Charles and Eddy’s ‘Would I Lie To You?’, capped a wonderfully diverse show today. Jamie. Is. Back. And back sporting a face that is three centimetres too big. Taking the adage fake it until you make it to new heights. He pretends to be a writer in the hope that when he grows up to be a real boy it might actually happen. He’s 18,000 words into his Herculean Tuesday Tries: a 50,000 word novel in a month. The latest chapter can be found here.
In the first half of the show Mark arranged for the amazing singer song writer Heidi Happy to come into the studio where we listened to a couple of tracks (’I think I’m in love’ and ‘Fulltime Running’) from her new album Flowers, Birds and Home. She also very kindly gave us a t-shirt to give away, if you want it, email tuesday@englishbreakfast.nl. (THE T-SHIRT IS NOW GONE, SORRY!!)
On the second half of the show, we were joined by the roving reporter Alexander Moust and Jacqueline van Vugt the director of the local cult film, ‘Mama don’t like no guitarpickers round here’ which is currently showing at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. Mark’s Dutch deficiencies were revealed but his ability to choose music that rocks redeemed him. He treated the listeners to two sure-to-be-classic remixes by Dizzy Rascal (Dirty Cash) and The Hood Internet (Billie Jean).
Finally, as if that wasn’t enough, Amy joined us kidsville, Melbourne, Australia and Jamie revealed - unexclusivley - who Belle De Jour really is.
Enjoy!
