Queens Day Swimmer

Studio 1 was rocking this morning with songs from The Black Keys, Talking Heads, Steppenwolf, and Kyle’s pick of the week, Cale Parks. We talked about our Queens Day antics and coincidentally, the Dutch word of the day, “Feest Beest” meaning Party Animal, was appropriately applied to our conversation. Lots of sports talk with Uncle Frank and considering all the big matches happening this weekend, it is such a pleasure to be informed by Europe’s finest football commentators.

We poked fun at Birthday Boy David Beckham by playing a cheeky skit about the Funny talking Football Stud and his Spice Girl and finally, we gave a gig guide to all our awesome listeners including Experimental Pop Artist Matthew Dear playing at Paradiso tonight and Young the Giant playing at Melkweg on Saturday. Tune in Next week for a live studio performance and interview with Jula Aimée, a cutting edge Indie Jazz singer from Amsterdam who will be talking with us about her upcoming performance at Canvas on May 13.

You could be forgiven for thinking it was an episode of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ this morning when Tuesday Toppers stalwart Unkle Frank was joined by blonde bombshells, Kyle de Babe and Elaine!

However the ladies displayed they’re more than just pretty faces. Elaine, the Toppers, newly appointed ‘Care Bear’, disseminated information about charitable activities going on around Amsterdam like Samen Koken Samen Leven a group that encourages people to bond via cooking and eating activities. Elaine also wore her Code X International cap and reminded listeners of the Code X, Queen’s Day, stall located on the corner of Prinsengracht and Bloemgracht.

Kyle was in full-tilt new music mode recommending bands such as Country Mice, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Oyster Head and Moon Taxi. You’d be crazy not to checkout her website Bands on the Bubble which features the coolest music on the planet and a wicked blog by American DJ, Barrett.

Kyle & Elaine ended the show with a pledge to form their own political party that promises to turn Europe into an ‘austerity free zone’!
